The rising sun hung high in the vast sky, and athletes, filled with passion, stepped onto the sports field. The blazing spirit within them symbolized the “Sacred Flame.” Carrying the flame of hope, two athletes ran in unison to the back of the stage. Confidently raising the torch in their hands, they kept their steady pace until they reached the cauldron. When the flame was passed and ignited, a brilliant blaze shot up, drawing admiration from the entire audience. The Sacred Flame symbolized peace and friendship among people, and it also marked the beginning of the School Games. May each athlete, with a heart as passionate as the Sacred Flame, achieve even greater glory!

Grand Opening in Chiayi City
Today marked the opening ceremony of the sports competition. Each athlete showed their best side to the officials and guests. Dressed in school uniforms, they walked confidently toward the stage, eyes fixed ahead as they listened attentively to the speeches. The athletes carried the honor and pride of their schools, yet they didn’t seem nervous or stressed. Instead, everyone was filled with excitement for the start of the games. When the torch was lit by two student athletes, it felt as if their fighting spirit was ignited as well. Let’s continue cheering for the top players from different schools and look forward to their outstanding performances. May everyone enjoy the competition and create precious memories together.
When You Fall Down, Get Back Up! Xiaoyu's Long Jump Story
When You Fall Down, Get Back Up! Xiaoyu's Long Jump Story
"The way you handle failure decides if you'll succeed." That's a great saying!
In this year's long jump competition, Zhang Xiaoyu from Shixian Elementary School didn't shine like the other athletes. But guess what? Failure is the mother of success! Xiaoyu is super confident she'll get better results next time!
From Doubted to Dreamer
"I still remember back in fifth grade. My P.E. teacher said something nice, and it pushed me to join the track and field team," Xiaoyu said with a smile. "At first, no one thought I was good enough. I often got yelled at by the coach for small things, like stepping over the line, fouling, or using the wrong jumping style. I felt so sad and down, I wanted to quit. But one day, I suddenly knew I couldn't keep feeling bad!" Xiaoyu decided to find her own ways to train harder. Luckily, her coach finally saw her effort and let her go to her first competition.
Thank You to Everyone!
"Today is my third time competing in the long jump. I'm so happy that I get to play this sport!" Xiaoyu shared excitedly. She wants to say a big thank you to her parents, her coach, and the brave self who chased her dreams. "Because of you, I am who I am today!"
Xiaoyu faced many tough times during practice, but she never gave up. In the end, she beat her own personal best! Even though her result wasn't perfect this time, her never-quit spirit is amazing and something we should learn from!
A Day to Show My Sports Skills
Today is a great day to show our sports skills. In the morning, the sky was full of dark clouds. Soon, little raindrops started to fall, making a soft drip-drop sound, like cheerleaders cheering for all the players. Then, the sun came out and pushed away the dark clouds, painting the sky with beautiful colors again.
The games began! Whistles, cheers, and shouting filled the air. Today’s interview star is Wu Yu-Chieh from Shih-Hsien Elementary School. Her event is softball throw. All the other players were strong, and even though Yu-Chieh’s hands were shaking, her eyes showed great confidence and courage. This is her second contest, but she already made a big step forward. Just like Coach Chang said, “Believe in yourself, challenge yourself, and you can reach the top!”
Yu-Chieh usually practices during lunch break. She used to like playing basketball, but when she heard she could join the track and field team and try a new sport—softball—she felt very excited and happy. The first time she threw the ball, it went really far! After many practices, her confidence grew like a little plant, stronger every day.
When it was her turn to throw, her ball didn’t go as far as others’, but she stayed brave, positive, and never gave up. As a little reporter, I silently cheered for her in my heart.
